Pre-1952 basketball cards
The 1948 Bowman set is the cornerstone of early basketball cards, led by the George Mikan rookie. The 72-card set also features other stars of the early pro game, and complete sets are rarely seen. Earlier basketball cards are very rare and include a few players in multi-sport sets like 1933 Sport Kings.
Surviving examples are scarce in any condition, so even low grades of key players draw strong interest. Authentication matters more than the grade number.
