Pre-1952 baseball cards
Before Topps, cards came with tobacco, candy and gum. The T206 set from 1909 to 1911, home of the famous Honus Wagner, the 1914 and 1915 Cracker Jack issues, 1933 Goudey with Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, and the 1948 Leaf Jackie Robinson rookie are the cornerstones. 1951 Bowman holds the rookie cards of Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays.
Pre-war cards rarely survive in high grade, so authentication matters more than the grade number. Most valuable examples are slabbed by PSA or SGC. Many listings show no year in the title, so this page also catches set names like T206, Goudey and Cracker Jack.
