Vintage baseball cards from 1952 to 1979

Modern card collecting starts with 1952 Topps, home of the iconic Mickey Mantle #311. The era's key rookies include the 1954 Topps Hank Aaron, the 1955 Topps Roberto Clemente and Sandy Koufax, the 1963 Topps Pete Rose and the 1968 Topps Nolan Ryan, shared with Jerry Koosman.

Vintage condition varies widely: off-center printing, print defects, creases and worn corners are all common, and even mid-grade copies of stars sell well. Grading from PSA or SGC is the norm for valuable cards, and eye appeal often matters as much as the number on the label.
