Baseball cards from 1992 to 2002

After the overproduced junk wax years, brands raced upmarket with premium cards and rare inserts. 1993 Finest introduced the refractor, and 1993 SP gave collectors the Derek Jeter rookie #279, whose foil surface chips so easily that high grades are scarce. Ken Griffey Jr. inserts, the 1994 SP Alex Rodriguez rookie and early Chipper Jones cards remain staples.

The era closes with 2001 rookies of Albert Pujols and Ichiro, including Bowman Chrome autographs and Topps Chrome Traded. Short-printed inserts and parallels from this decade often had no serial numbers, so true scarcity is hard to judge. Grading population reports help here.
